Final Day County Championship

Day 3 of the championships and we managed to get done despite thunder and flooded greens. Soggy spectators were treated to a classic final. Tilly and Ellise overcame Izzy and Courtney respectively in the semi finals, and faced off under darkening skies.

Tilly was 2 under par at the turn and 3 up. She was still two up with three to play, when Elise drained a couple of magnificent putts to birdie 16 and 17 to go all square. The match was all square after regulation and they headed down the 18th again. The first play off hole was halved in par, and the match was finished fittingly with a classy birdie from Elise. A brilliant match with a brilliant finish and we are proud to have both Tilly and Elise in our county. Congratulations to Elise on a famous victory and hats off to Tilly who was beaten by 3 birdies in the last 5 holes.

The other event today was the Julia sales salver, a scratch foursomes completions which Bethany and Neve win with an incredible gross 76. Only 3 scores were better than that in the individual championships so a quite the performance from 2 of our outstanding juniors.

County Championship day 2

Day two of the Championships saw some great matches, with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th seeds heading into the semi finals tomorrow. Late in the day we were treated to a terrific scrap between Courtney and Grace with no more than a hole in it all the way. Courtney squeaking through at the last.

The Butlin trophy had a remarkable finish with mother and daughter Charlotte and Sophie Robinson tied at the top.

Tomorrow morning there are 40 women playing in the Julia Sales foursomes competition - who we hope will stay to watch the final afterwards .

There will be some great golf from the best players in our county tomorrow and all support is always very welcome

County Championship underway!

On the first day of the championships at Lincoln golf club today, we were treated to best weather for ages. 32 players tackled the course and our defending champion, and just back from university in the states, Tilly Garfoot led the qualifiers with consistent play over 36 holes. Elise Rymer, fresh from representing England in a brilliant 2 day match against Spain, just edged out Courtney Martland for 2nd qualifying spot.

Six home players have qualified in the top 16, and there are some very interesting matches lined up for tomorrow morning.

There are 25 players taking part in the Butlin trophy tomorrow - 18 holes of medal play.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
