Lincolnshire Girls Closed Championships 2023

U18/U16/U14 (gross) Jenny Wren (nett) Trophies

Terms of Competition

 

  1. The Championship shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf January 2019 as approved by the R&A Rules Ltd and with the Local Rules of the club.
  2. The format will be stroke play over two rounds of 18 holes.
  3. The Championship shall be open to players who hold a current Handicap Index of not more than 36.4 at competition closing date.
  4. The Championship will be played from the Red tees.
  5. All competitors must be female members of a club affiliated to the Lincolnshire Women’s Golf Association and be under 18 years of age on the date of the 1st of January of the same year.
  6. The Championship shall be open to players who have Amateur Status in accordance with the current Amateur Status Rules of R&A Rules Limited.
  7. Entry forms, together with the entry fee are to be received by the Championship organiser no later than the closing date shown on the entry form.
  8. The County Junior Girls Champion trophy will be awarded to the girl with the best overall gross score from across the full field of girls who has scored the lowest gross across the 36-hole event, and any play-off holes.
  9. Age categories for division eligibility will be based upon age as of 1st January of the year the event is being played.
  10. The under 18 gross trophy will be awarded to a junior girl aged 16-17 on 1st January of the year the event is being played who has scored the lowest gross across the 36 hole event.  They will be the U18 County Champion.
  11. The under 16 gross trophy will be awarded to a junior girl aged 14-15 on 1st January of the year the event is being played who has scored the lowest gross across the 36 hole event. They will be the U16 County Champion.
  12. The under 14 gross trophy (Imps Cup) will be awarded to a junior girl aged under 14 on 1st January of the year the event is being played who has scored the lowest gross across the 36 hole event. They will be the U14 County Champion.
  13. Girls are only eligible to receive one age divisional trophy. In the unlikely event there are no entrants from the girls in the specific age categories, girls may move up an age category and the best score from those within the lower age category will be awarded the higher age category trophy. The 2nd best score will then be awarded the trophy for the actual age category.
  14. The Lincolnshire Girls Champion will qualify and be expected to compete in the England Golf Champion of Champions.
  15. The U18, U16 and U14 Champions will qualify and be expected to compete in the MGU Champion of Champions.
  16. The County will pay all expenses for the representatives in Champion of Champions Tournament. 
  17. The Best Nett winner will hold the Jenny Wren Trophy. This will be awarded to the girl with the best overall nett score from across the full field of girls across the 36-hole event.
  18. The winner of each trophy shall hold the trophy for 1 year and be responsible for engraving and making sure that the trophy is available for next year’s championship.
  19. In the event of a tie the Lincolnshire Junior Girls Champion winner will be decided by a hole-by-hole sudden death play-off over pre-determined holes (normally between 4-6 holes) near the clubhouse where practicable, as soon as possible after the last group finishes. 
  20. In the event of a tie after the pre-determined play-off holes, the result shall be decided by a scorecard play-off for the last 18 holes. If the tie is still unresolved, the result shall be decided over the last nine holes, failing which the last six holes, failing which the last three holes and final hole in that order. If the tie is then still unresolved, the result shall be decided over the last six holes of the first nine holes of the last round, failing which the last three holes and the last hole of the first nine holes of the last round. If the tie then be still unresolved the result shall be decided by counting back as described above for the first round 18 holes. 
  21. If this process does not result in a winner, the Committee may consider deciding the winner by chance (tossing a coin).
  22. Where a sudden death play-off is not possible, a scorecard countback will be taken as described in clause 20.
  23. In the event of a tie for the remaining Trophies, the winner will be decided by a scorecard countback as in clause 20.
  24. If the runner-up of the Lincolnshire Junior Girls Championship is not awarded any other trophy, she will receive a Runner’s Up Prize.

 

The Competition

 

  1. Up-to-date evidence of handicap index must be shown (eg this could be through the ‘MyEG’ app)
  2. Competitors are to collect their cards 20 minutes prior to their tee times and be at the tee 5 minutes before their start time.
  3. No caddies or trolley pullers are allowed.
  4. During a round a player must not ride on any form of motorized transportation except as authorised, or later approved, by a member of the competition organisation team. A player who will play, or has played, under penalty of stroke and distance is always authorised to ride on motorised transportation.
  5. It is obligatory for all competitors to play with a ball, which is named, in the current R&A or USGA list of approved 1.68 golf balls. No xxx-outs allowed.
  6. Drug abuse – a competitor shall not knowingly make use of any drug to enhance her performance. A list of permitted drugs is available from UK Sport. Penalty – disqualification (for infringing this condition or refusing to take a drugs test).
  7. Competitors to adhere to the dress code on and off the course.
  8. The use of mobile phones on the golf course is prohibited except in silent mode as a GPS Golf App, or for mobile score entry or in case of an emergency.
  9. All spectators are requested to stay off the fairways and not to speak or advise the competitors in anyway whilst playing in the championships.
  10. If a player is uncertain about the right Rules procedure while playing a hole, the player must decide to play two balls after the uncertain situation arises and before making a stroke.  (Rule 20.1C(3))  The player should choose which ball will count if the Rules allow, before making a stroke. The player must report the facts to the Committee before returning the scorecard, even if the player scores the same with both balls. 
  11. Scorecards are considered returned when they have been entered into the computer scoring system
  12. Any Rules issues must be resolved before the results of the competition are announced.
  13. The result of this competition is final when the winners have been announced at the prize giving on the day of the competition.

Under 21 Lincolnshire Open Championship

Terms of Competition 2023

 

 

  1. The Championship shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf January 2019 as approved by the R&A Rules Ltd and with the Local Rules of the club.
  2. The format will be stroke play over 18 holes.
  3. The Championship shall be open to players who hold a current Handicap Index of not more than 36.4 at competition closing date.
  4. The Championship will be played from Red tees.
  5. All competitors must be female members of a UK golf club and be under 21 years of age on the date of the 1st of January.
  6. The Championship shall be open to players who have Amateur Status in accordance with the current Amateur Status Rules of R&A Rules Limited.
  7. Entries together with the entry fee are to be received by the Championship organiser no later than the closing date shown on the entry form.
  1. All competitors will play for U21 Keymin Challenge Bowl (gross trophy) and the winner will be the U21 Lincolnshire Open Champion.
  2. All competitors under 13 years of age will be eligible for the U13 Gross trophy.
  3. The best nett winner, who is not either the U21 or U13 gross winner, will hold the Butlin Trophy.
  4. Age categories for division eligibility will be based upon age as of 1st January of the year the event is being played.
  5. Girls are only eligible to receive one age divisional trophy.  If the U21 winner is under 13 years of age, the U13 trophy will be awarded to the under 13 year old girl with the 2nd best gross score.
  6. There will be runner up prizes.

WOODROFFE WALTERS CUP

Terms of Competition 2023

 

  1. The competition shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf January 2019 as approved by the R&A Rules Ltd and with the Local Rules of the club.
  2. The format will be stroke play over two rounds of 18 holes.
  3. The competition shall be open to players who hold a current Handicap Index of not more than 36.4 at competition closing date.
  4. The competition will be played from Red tees.
  5. All competitors must be female members of a Lincolnshire affiliated golf club and be under 18 years of age on the date of the 1st of January of the same year.
  1. The competition shall be open to players who have Amateur Status in accordance with the current Amateur Status Rules of R&A Rules Limited.
  2. Competitors will play for the Woodroffe Walters Cup which is awarded to the lowest gross scores across the 2 sets of 18 holes. There will be a runner-up gross and nett prizes based upon scores from across the 36 hole event.
  3. The winner of each trophy shall hold the trophy for 1 year and be responsible for engraving and making sure that the trophy is available for next year’s competition. An individual can hold more than one trophy but not win more than one prize.
  1. In the event of a tie the result shall be decided by a scorecard play-off for the last 18 holes. If the tie is still unresolved, the result shall be decided over the last nine holes, failing which the last six holes, failing which the last three holes and final hole in that order. If the tie is then still unresolved, the result shall be decided over the last six holes of the first nine holes of the last round, failing which the last three holes and the last hole of the first nine holes of the last round. If the tie then be still unresolved the result shall be decided by counting back as described above for the first round 18 holes.

Terms of Competition 2021

 

  1. Each competition shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf January 2019 as approved by the R&A Rules Ltd and with the Local Rules of the club.
  2. The format will be stroke play over 18 holes.
  3. The competition shall be open to players who hold a current Handicap Index of not more than 36.4 at competition closing date.
  4. The competition will be played from Red tees.
  5. All competitors must be female members of a Lincolnshire affiliated golf club and be under 18 years of age on the date of the 1st of January of the same year.
  6. The Competition shall be open to players who have Amateur Status in accordance with the current Amateur Status Rules of R&A Rules Limited. 
  7. Competitors will play for nett and gross prizes and trophies:

 

The Peggotty Cup awarded for best overall gross score.  There is a runner-up prize.

The Jennings Cup awarded for the best overall nett score.  There is a runner-up prize.

The Stamford Plate awarded for best nett score for girls with a handicap index of 14.4 and below. There is a runner-up prize and there is a prize for best girls gross score regardless of handicap index.

The Molson Trophy awarded for the best nett score across both the girls and boys competition for those juniors with a handicap index of 14.5 and above. 

Les Johnson Trophy awarded for best nett score, with a prize each for best runner-up nett and best gross.

Patrons Cup awarded for best overall nett score.  There is a runner-up prize and prizes for best gross and runner up.
