LGGS Coaching Update 2023

Since the start of Autumn 2022 the LGGS have been running their county training programme. You will find below an update from our Coaches around session delivery so far;

 

Futures Squad (led by Alison Johns & Neil Curtis)

  • Set golfing goals
  • Golf profile wheel; to see where each player feels they are at with all areas of their game
  • Warm up exercises
  • Chipping around the green with different clubs
  • Pre shot routines
  • Iron plays

 

Upcoming:

  • Pitching; understanding different swing lengths
  • Prepare for golf; discuss and explore items for the golf bag
  • Competition prep
  • Driving & increasing distance
  • Putting and green reading
  • Taking a closer look at hybrids and fairway woods, bunker shots

Development Squad (led by Alison Johns)

  • Goal setting
  • Completing my profile
  • Chipping around the green with different clubs
  • Adopt shot decision using the 5 Ls - Lie, Landing Spot, Loft, Length of swing and Line To The Hole
  • Warm up exercises for the range
  • 9 hole on course training; maximising play, opportunity and scoring, varied formats, statistics (fairways hit, number of putts, etc.)
  • Nutrition with England Golf & Amy O’Donnell (Amy leads on nutrition at the Curtis & Solheim Cups)

Performance Squad (led by David McNicholas & Dane Duffin)

  • Vision 54; Golf Psychology programme, managing the mind, developing human skills to complement technique, transferring mental skills out onto the golf course, enhance performance and enjoyment of the game

  • Analysing Performance, skill levels, introducing statistics and understanding the data
  • Goal setting for 2023 and beyond

  • Personal and professional development including building resilience
