Helen Dobson Scratch Trophy

The Helen Dobson Trophy is a new scratch trophy competition introduced by LWGA this year to recognise the incredible contribution that Helen has made to Lincolnshire over her glittering golf career.

Helen Hewlett (nee Dobson) is the most successful golfer that Lincolnshire has ever produced.  In 1989 she won both the British amateur Strokeplay and match play titles, along with the English national title, something that is unlikely to be achieved again. She represented Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup and the Vagliano Trophy and played for England in several home international matches and European championships.

As a professional, Helen won on the European Tour and played for 9 years on the LPGA, winning once and finishing runner up in the Nabisco Dinah Shore major championship - more recently known as the ANA Inspiration and now Chevron championship.  She also achieved a top 10 finish in the US women’s Open.

We are delighted that we will be able to celebrate her name every year with a scratch competition.   The event is an 18-hole medal, held this year at Belton Park golf club, Saturday afternoon, the 19th August.   There is a handicap index limit of 15.4, and we can accept up to 40 entries'.  Players will be drawn in groups of 3 with the first tee time at 12:30.
