MNR CHAMPIONS
LINCOLNSHIRE
Well played and good luck at the National Final in September
Congratulations to the team on winning CMW. They now progress to the National County Final to be played at Delamere Forest, 16th - 20th September.
The format for this years competition changed from playing 5 days to 3, with 2 foursomes followed by 3 singles matches.
Day 1 - The team got off to a good start against Derbyshire winning 4 -1. The afternoon match against Nottinghamshire was much tougher with Billie - Jo Smith halving her game on the 18th hole to ensure the match was halved.
Day 2 - The heavens opened and play was suspended until the afternoon. We played Shropshire winning 5 -0. The afternoon matches were rescheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
Day 3 - Weather improved but more like Autumn than Summer and play was resumed with the match v Leicestershire & Rutland , which was a win 3 - 2. Going into the final match against Staffordshire, both teams were on the same number of match points although we had a slight advantage in the number of games won. The team played well and thanks to two wins in the foursomes, both on the 18th, won 3-2 to reach the National County final.
All members of the team contributed but a special mention for Tilly Garfoot and Ellise Rymer, both Juniors, making their debut for the first team and securing a point to win their foursomes match on the 18th. They were both awarded County Colours. India Clyburn won all of her five singles and Lucy Hull & Tilly Kedzlie won all four of their foursomes games.
The Doris Abraham Trophy was presented to the Captain by Carol Alford - EG Board Member.
The National County Final for the Lady Katherine Cairns Challenge Cup in September is a five day event and supporters are very welcome to attend.
Captain Birdie, Vice Captain Gilly and President Cindy did a great job throughout the three days supporting and encouraging. Well done to all members of team Lincolnshire.

The LWGA County Betterball North was played at Thonock Park on Monday 24 June 2019. The weather was overcast and humid; fortunately the forecast of heavy rain, thunder and lightning didn't materialise and the players had to deal with only a couple of heavy showers. Talk in the Club House at the end of the rounds was of "incredibly slick greens" and "tough to get out of rough". This didn't stop the winners, Amanda Austen and Jane Arnold, taking the home advantage and producing a 42 point scorecard. Many congratulations to them both. Thanks were expressed by the players and organisers to all the staff at Thonock Park for making the day run smoothly, in particular the Chef and his team.
